As tends to happen, I found myself in an incredibly weird, but at the same time, incredibly awesome situation last night. I received a text from a buddy Casey yesterday afternoon asking if the Wife and I would like to join him and some others at a performance of War Horse at PlayhouseSquare. We jumped at the chance (after skittering to line up a babysitter for the boys) and 4 hours later found ourselves happy-houring at the Wyndham downtown.
Apparently the Wyndham has an incredible happy hour that everyone in the city of Cleveland (except for me) knows about. I’m happy to say that I’m now versed in just how awesome this place is…. and specifically their Cucumber Gimlet.
MAN was that a good drink. I’m typically more of a “shot and a beer” kind of a guy but seeing as we were taking in a show I figured JD & Miller Lite might not be appropriate 🙂
I’ve been scouring the interwebs all morning trying to find the recipe. I haven’t (yet) been able to find a specific recipe for the Wyndham’s version but this one I think is pretty close.
Cucumber Gimlet
1/12 ounces gin or vodka
2 ounces cucumber purée
1/2 ounce squeezed lime juice
Soda
Garnish with lime wedge & cucumber slice
If I can manage to track down the “official” Wyndham recipe I’ll update this post.
As for the show itself… If you’re not familiar (like I wasn’t) here’s a brief synopsis from the PlayhouseSquare website:
