11 Years of Freedom From Tobacco

11Aside from family birthdays and my anniversary, July 24th is the day on the calendar I look forward to the most. It’s the anniversary of the day my life changed.

11 years ago today, I quit chewing tobacco after 18 years. I can tell you that was both the most difficult and most rewarding thing I have ever done.

I spent this past weekend (along with my dad, father-in-law and kids) building a play set in the back yard. I’m thrilled to say that dip never crossed my mind once. This is the sort of activity that used to scream for a dip. Now it’s a thing of the past and that sort of freedom makes all the pain, withdrawals and self discovery worth it.

I’ve got to give huge thanks to Amanda for dealing with me during those early days and for standing next to me forever. Also special shout out to my family at KillTheCan.org. That group represents some of the greatest friends and compatriots I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I’m humbled by the support I’ve been shown over the years.

Thank you!
