It was just announced that Sting will be the first member of the 2016 WWE HOF Class. With this honor, Sting becomes the only man to be in both WWE and the TNA HOF, but let’s be honest… no one gives a shit about the TNA HOF and this is the only hall that matters. In reality, the WWE HOF is the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame.
The 2016 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place on Saturday, April 2, the night before WrestleMania 32, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Even with only a handful of matches in the WWE under his belt Sting was a natural pick for this year’s class. He got hurt at last year’s Night of Champions (in a great match by the way) and hasn’t wrestled since. Rumors have been swirling that he’d need surgery and at this point in his career (he’s 56) I think it would be safe to call it a career ender.
Congratulations to Sting (Steve Borden) as this is certainly a well deserved honor. We would have loved to have seen Sting wrestle The Undertaker about a decade ago but with injury and Father Time bearing down on both men its a match that will have to live on in our imaginations.
What are your thoughts on Sting going into the WWE HOF?
