I posted this on Facebook earlier today. 406 isn’t a political blog and I never intend it to be. Politics sucks. But I wanted to re-post this here. I’m hoping against hope, that I can look back in the not too distant future and see just how far we’ve come from the day I wrote this:
I don’t care what side of the political aisle you sit on… Today we should absolutely be ashamed of our government. They’d rather point fingers at the other side, talk about how the other side created this impasse and how the other side is at fault. All the while our healthcare system sucks, our educational system sucks, our economy sucks and our national pride is at an all time low.
These guys (and gals) are on a pedestal and have absolutely no repercussions for their action (or inaction) aside from being voted out a few years down the road via a completely brokedick electoral system.
And the WORST part of it? I’m not even really worried about Wife and me… I’m worried about our kids. They’re going to be put into a position where they’re so far behind the 8 ball that there’s absolutely no chance of digging themselves out. I’m about the proudest American you’ll run into but I’m not thrilled today.
This isn’t an anti-Democrat post and it’s not an anti-Republican post. It’s a “I’m pissed off and can’t do anything about it so I’ll complain on Facebook” post. Here’s hoping some group of people far smarter than me will get their collective heads out of their collective asses and actually do something other than point fingers at one another, watch the country smolder out slowly and continue to collect their paychecks.
