First and Favorites – Cobra – The Enemy! Figures – Episode 20

🎙️ Recorded: June 2nd, 2020

Episode Overview

The Firsts & Favorites series continues as Chewie shifts from the heroes of GI Joe to the villains of Cobra.

In this episode of the podcast, he shares memories of his very first Cobra figure, Destro, the silver-faced weapons supplier who immediately stood out from the rest of the toy line. He also discusses his all-time favorite Cobra character, Storm Shadow, including the months-long search to track down the highly sought-after ninja figure and the excitement of finally adding him to his collection.

Along the way, Chewie reflects on why the Cobra figures often seemed more visually interesting than their GI Joe counterparts, touches on the legendary rivalry between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes, and gives an honorable mention to Zartan, whose color-changing action figure and vehicle made him one of the most memorable characters in the line.

It’s another nostalgic trip back to the toy aisles of the 1980s and the action figures that fueled countless childhood adventures.
