WWE Clash in Italy 2026 Recap: Roman Reigns Reclaims His Throne, Sol Ruca Breaks Through, and Cody Rhodes Survives

WWE made history with its first-ever PLE in Italy, and for the most part, Clash In Italy delivered. The atmosphere was electric from the opening bell, giving the show a big-fight feel that elevated nearly every match on the card. This show focused on delivering quality wrestling while advancing some of WWE’s biggest storylines. There were title changes, hard-hitting battles, and one of the best main events WWE has produced all year.

Not every match was a home run, but by the time Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu finally settled the Tribal Chief debate, this felt like another successful international outing for WWE.

Cody Rhodes (c) Defeated Gunther To Retain the Undisputed WWE Championship

Clash In Italy - Cody Gunther

Opening the show with the Undisputed WWE Championship was a bold decision… but it was one Cody Rhodes and Gunther made work.

Any time these two share a ring, you’re getting a clash of styles. Cody brings the emotion, resilience, and explosive offense, while Gunther simply wants to beat his opponent into submission.

This wasn’t the longest match on the card, but it didn’t need to be. Rhodes gets a ‘dirty’ victory here with Gunther’s foot CLEARLY under the ropes. Will be interesting to see how Rhodes progresses but I can’t help but wonder if it’s little things like this that plant the seeds for a future heel turn for Cody.

Gunther lost nothing here. In fact, he once again proved he belongs in the main event picture whenever WWE decides to pull the trigger again.

Rhea Ripley Defeated Jade Cargill To Retain The WWE Women’s Championship

Clash In Italy - Rhea Jade

Rhea Ripley Reminds Everyone Why She’s Still the Champion

Jade came into Italy carrying tremendous momentum, and after pinning Ripley at Saturday Night’s Main Event just weeks earlier, there was a legitimate argument that this could be the night WWE crowned a new champion.

Instead, Ripley reminded everyone exactly why she’s been the centerpiece of the women’s division.

The match was physical from the opening bell, with both women throwing power moves that looked devastating. Jade continued to showcase the incredible athleticism that has made her one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars, but Ripley’s experience eventually made the difference.

Some fans may have expected Jade’s coronation, but this was the right call in my book… Jade will be champion again I’m sure but Rhea’s still top of the food chain.

Brock Lesnar Defeated Oba Femi

Clash In Italy Brock Oba

Brock Lesnar Is Still Brock Lesnar

Just when it seemed like Oba Femi was about to receive the biggest win of his career, Brock Lesnar reminded everyone why he’s still one of the most terrifying athletes to ever step into a WWE ring.

This wasn’t a technical masterpiece. It wasn’t supposed to be.

It was six minutes of two monsters beating each other up.

Oba looked impressive throughout the match and never appeared intimidated by Lesnar even while taking all of his moves. That’s a victory in itself.

Could WWE have used this match to further elevate Oba Femi? Absolutely.

Did Brock Lesnar look like an unstoppable force again? Also yes.

With SummerSlam in Brock’s home state of Minnesota I’d say it’s a foregone conclusion that we’ll get the third Brock / Oba match there. Perhaps with Lesnar’s career on the line?

Sol Ruca Defeated Becky Lynch To Win the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship

Clash In Italy - Sol

Sol Ruca Finally Captures Gold

After weeks of Becky Lynch finding every possible way to avoid losing cleanly, the rivalry finally reached its conclusion with the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line.

This time, there were no shortcuts. There were no disqualifications. There were no controversial referee bumps.

There was simply a wrestling match.

And Sol Ruca delivered.

She matched Becky every step of the way before finally putting the veteran away to capture her first championship on the main roster.

This felt earned… actually, it felt overdue. Winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship feels like the natural next step in her evolution.

Roman Reigns Defeated Jacob Fatu In Tribal Combat To Retain the World Heavyweight Championship

Clash In Italy - Roman

Roman Reigns Defeats Jacob Fatu in an Outstanding Main Event

Sometimes WWE gets it exactly right.

Roman Reigns versus Jacob Fatu in Tribal Combat was one of those times.

This wasn’t just about the World Heavyweight Championship. This wasn’t just about family. This was about legacy.

From the opening stare-down, both men wrestled like they genuinely hated one another. The weapons, the brawling, the counters, and the brutality all fit the stipulation perfectly without ever feeling excessive.

Jacob Fatu looked every bit like a legitimate main event star. If anyone questioned whether he belonged in this spot, those doubts should be gone now.

After nearly thirty minutes of punishment, Reigns finally put Fatu away to retain both the World Heavyweight Championship and his position as Tribal Chief.

It was a fitting conclusion to one of WWE’s best rivalries of 2026.

More importantly, Jacob Fatu lost absolutely nothing.

If anything, he emerged looking like someone who will hold world championship gold sooner rather than later.

Clash In Italy (2026) – Final Thoughts

Clash In Italy may not have featured dozens of shocking moments, but it didn’t need them. WWE delivered a show built around strong wrestling, logical storytelling, and meaningful championship matches.

Cody Rhodes continued his impressive title reign, Lesnar isn’t done just yet (far from it), Rhea Ripley reminded everyone she’s still the standard of the women’s division, Sol Ruca captured her first championship in a well-deserved (and overdue) breakthrough moment, and Roman Reigns closed the night by winning one of the year’s best main events.

I hate that we’re getting all of these PPVs overseas because it means the timing is all wonky, but the international crowds continue to prove why WWE continues to do it. I’m holding out hope that WrestleMania 43 in Saudi won’t happen, but at this point I think it’s inevitable.
