The Death of the Cleveland Indians?

Cleveland Indians

I’m a baseball guy first and foremost. Always have been. Always will be.

Unfortunately, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I’ll never see a Tribe World Series and candidly, I think they’ll be out of Cleveland in a few years.

They’ve dropped the logo and name. As of today they essentially have no payroll commitments. Players expected to make over $1M on Cleveland’s roster this season: Jose Ramirez, Roberto Perez, Austin Hedges, Nick Wittgren, Amed Rosario.
That’s it. That’s the list.

In the last 18 months the Indians have traded Fransicso Lindor, Trevor Bauer, Mike Clevinger, Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco. From an on the field perspective not much cause for optimism. And here’s the kicker…

The lease with the City of Cleveland is ending.

It’s a foregone conclusion in my mind that the Dolans, who I consider the worst ownership group in history, will move the team.

Congratulations Nashville it looks like you’ll be getting a Major League Baseball team and I’ll be looking for a new team to follow. I’m thinking maybe the Phillies or the Nationals. Pre 2016 I was a huge Cubs fan and would have joined that bandwagon in a heartbeat. Since 2016, fuck those guys. No chance.

*sigh*

Such is the life of an Indians fan.
