11 Years of Freedom From Tobacco

Aside from family birthdays and my anniversary, July 24th is the day on the calendar I look forward to the most. It’s the anniversary of the day my life changed. 11 years ago today, I quit chewing tobacco after 18 years. I can tell you that was both the most difficult and most rewarding thing I have ever done. I spent this past weekend (along with my dad, father-in-law and kids) building a play set … Continue reading

Miller Lite In The Woods of Hocking Hills

Beer Shots - Hocking Hills, OH

I snapped this Beer Shots entry a few years back when Wife and I went to Hocking Hills, Ohio for a get away weekend. We had a little cabin in the middle of the woods complete with a hot tub overlooking a ravine. It was super relaxing… especially since I had a cooler stocked with beer and wine. I catch a lot of flack from my beer drinking friends but I’ll tell you what… I … Continue reading

I Will Not Be That Guy – Cats In The Cradle

Family Fall Day

Apologies in advance for a sappy post. You’ve been warned. If you know anything about me you know that my family is the most important thing in the world to me. I don’t blog about family stuff all that much these days partially because I’m a bad blogger and partially for privacy and security reasons for my kids. I’ve got three boys who mean everything to me. I’ve got a Wife who is so far … Continue reading

39 And Doing Fine…

Family At Margaritaville

As has become my tradition (at least since my 35th birthday) I wanted to take a few minutes to sit down with my computer and put some thoughts together. If you’re interested at all, you can look back at the last couple of years worth of babbling: Thoughts At 35 Thoughts At 36 Thoughts At 37 38 And Counting (My Blessings) So, I’m another year older and I suppose another year wiser. I’m certainly another … Continue reading

9 Years Ago – Chewie Quits Chewing

Nine Times

“9 times.” If you’re an 80’s movie fan like I am, you’ll immediately recognize this quote as coming from Ed Rooney who was Ferris Bueller’s principal. And while that’s one of my all time favorite movies (Check out the ongoing series I’m writing of my favorite movies by year… here’s the latest: 1983) it’s not the reason I’m writing this post today.  Today marks 9 years since I’ve quit chewing tobacco. 9 years ago this morning … Continue reading

Throwback Thursday – Lost Wedding Tweets

The Four Horsemen

Was going through some old drafts here on the blog and ran across this beauty. I’ve live tweeted a couple of weddings in the past (Open Bar #WeddingTweets and Live Tweeting With An Open Bar Is Outstanding!) and I did the same thing during this family wedding in the Chicago area. I’ve never seen a hotter girl look more trashy. #weddingtweets It’s always super cool when the wedding party acts like douche bags when they … Continue reading

The ALS #IceBucketChallenge – A Family Affair

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

In case you’ve been living under a rock, there’s a movement afoot.  The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.  What is ALS you ask?  From the ALS Association website: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. … Continue reading

38 And Counting (My Blessings)

Family - Tami

I’m sitting here at Panera on a Saturday morning as is my normal routine, working on stuff for clients, catching up on email, etc. What’s a little abnormal is that it’s my 38th birthday.  And while I’ve got a HUGE list of stuff to get done, I’ve got to take a minute to put some thoughts down here on the blog. I started this “tradition” when I turned 35 and I’ve continued it with Thoughts At … Continue reading

8 Years Ago Today – Chewie Quits Chewing

8 Years Dip Free

8 years ago this morning my world was a very different place. I had a 53 day old son… the first of my three boys that I cherish above all else. Pope Benedict hadn’t resigned yet. Revenge Of The Sith was just over a year old and was finally washing away the thoughts of Jar Jar Binks. Michael Bay hadn’t touched the Transformers franchise yet. Twitter was less than a month old. Charlie Frye was the … Continue reading

Wine In The Maternity Ward? You Know It!

At The Hospital For LLB

So if you’ve been following along at home, you know that we recently had our 3rd boy. Mama was good during her pregnancy but couldn’t wait to be able to have a glass of wine. So… we brought it with us!  Prosecco for Mom & Dad, sparkling juice for the Boys. Incidentally… Dude is awesome. It’s so great having 3 boys!!!
