WrestleMania 30 was held on April 6th, 2014. Pip, Mark and I once again set out to continue our tradition known simply as… The Beeramid. As we’ve been doing for quite some time now, we’d built out our WrestleMania 30 Drinking Game to help us on our quest. We even managed to keep track of the action once again including our picks for the matches and how often we drank for each rule (more on that in a future post).
There was some talk after last year’s Beeramid that we might end the tradition with the WrestleMania 30 version. I do have to say that I believe THIS incarnation was a bit easier to get to the finish line than last year. That’s in large part to Marko’s contributions this year. I spose that decision has yet to be made, but as of this writing I’m still up for it. We’ll have to wait to see what Pip and Marko chime in with.
As this was the 30th anniversary of the “Grandaddy Of Em All” we decided to do something a bit different this year and went with the throwback “vintage” white Miller Lite cans. I have to say that I think it adds a certain “panache” to this year’s event.
Now Pip and I have never been the brightest bulbs in the bunch. Naturally, when you’re getting ready to pound 30 beers over the next several hours, the last thing you should be thinking about is getting a few beers while waiting for your wings to be ready. So… that’s just what we did.
And with that… we headed home to have dinner with the family (The Boys, Amanda, Meagan & Scarlett joined in this year’s festivities as well throwing in their picks) and to get ready for the big event.
And with one last look at this year’s rules of engagement and a prayer to the wrestling (and drinking) Gods… we were off.
I simply have to throw in a bit of commentary here. This photo was taken just after the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania was broken by Brock Lesnar. I’ve gone on record as saying that The Undertaker is my all time favorite wrestler but that he was well past his prime and I was sort of getting sick of his once per year parlor games in the name of The Streak. That said, I don’t necessarily have a problem with the streak ending but I think it was a HUGE mistake to give it to a guy like Lesnar who really isn’t going to DO anything with the fact that he was the guy to break it. Poor booking IMHO.
And just like that, we’d done it again. The Beeramid had been vanquished for another year. Since it was WrestleMania 30, Pip and I knocked off 2 more beers to make it an even 30 for the evening.
I’m WAY behind on my blogging these days due to a new addition to the family and just “life” in general. But rest assured that Pip will be making his return to the land of Cleve next year and The Beeramid in some shape or form will return as well. WrestleMania 31 will be held next year on March 29th, 2015. Until then… stay tuned!
