Bill Maher for those of you that don’t know, is an American comedian, actor, political commentator, and television host. He probably best known for the HBO political talk show Real Time with Bill Maher and his previous show titled Politically Incorrect which went off the air early in the 2000’s.
He’s a left leaning political satirist who speaks his mind about religion, political correctness and the media. While I don’t always agree with him politically, I have often applauded him for going after certain issues the way many (most) of the mainstream media would never dream of.
I’ve been very critical of social networks for banning people, suppressing speech, etc. No, I’m not going to go into that in this post… feel free to reach out, happy to discuss over a beer.
But I ran across this clip from a recent Real Time show and I have to once again applaud Bill for taking this stance. He’s right. Big Tech WAY overstepped. And this sort of shit needs to be called out. Bravo Bill. Bravo indeed.
“Outrageous.” @BillMaher railed against Facebook and Google for banning and suppressing content about lab leak. “You were wrong, Google and Facebook….The CDC’s been wrong about a lot shit, this is outrageous that I can’t look this information up.” #RealTime pic.twitter.com/28dwaQGz9W

I hope this tweet stays up. I posted it to my FB page and I’m putting it here on my site as well. Cause you know… things that are against Big Tech just sort of seem to disappear.
Video Transcript
Bill Maher: All right… let me ask you about the media aspect of this because I find this outrageous.
Facebook banned any post… for four months about COVID coming from a lab. Of course now even the Biden administration is looking into this.
Google, a Wall Street Journal reported asked the head of Google’s health division, they noticed they don’t do ‘auto-fill searches’ for ‘coronavirus lab leak’ they way they do it for any other question. And the guy said, “well we want to make sure the search isn’t leading down pathways that we would find to be not authoritative information.”
Well you were wrong Google. And Facebook. We don’t know. The reason why we want you is cause we’re checking on this shit. He said, “We want to ensure the first thing users see is information from the CDC, the WHO…”
THAT’S WHO I’M CHECKING ON. The WHO has been very corrupt about a lot of shit and the CDC’s been wrong about a lot of shit. This is outrageous that I can’t look this information up?
And now they’re doing it with this drug Ivermectin. They throw Brett Weinstein off YouTube, or almost, he’s one strike away. YouTube should not be telling me about what I can see about Ivermectin. Ivermectin isn’t a registered Republican, it’s a DRUG. I don’t know if it works or not and a lot of other doctors don’t either.
I really didn’t start this post to be a rant but it does once again bring to light some really big issues that I’m worried about. Regardless of how you lean politically you HAVE to admit that the ‘mass media’ has had SUCH an agenda over the past several years that’s its REALLY difficult to believe anything you see from them.
And when you start to really understand how your social feeds are cultivated, how your search results are cultivated, etc. it’s really pretty scary.
I’ve been using the search engine https://duckduckgo.com/ for quite some time now. It’s remarkable just now DIFFERENT your search results are from those of Google. If you’re not familiar with it, here’s the description from their Wiki article:
DuckDuckGo (also abbreviated as DDG) is an internet search engine that emphasizes protecting searchers’ privacy and avoiding the filter bubble of personalized search results. DuckDuckGo distinguishes itself from other search engines by not profiling its users and by showing all users the same search results for a given search term.
I’m rambling now… I hope you all are doing OK through these crazy times. The pandemic is behind us, but I’m not sure we’re out of the woods yet.
I’ll be interested to see what sort of traction (or lack thereof) this post gets. I’ll post it here on the blog and will cross post it to Facebook, Twitter, etc.
If you don’t mind, drop me a comment with your thoughts and how you saw this post.
Cheers folks!
