‘V’ For Victory or For Visitor?

V: The Original Miniseries (1983)

I recently re-watched the TV miniseries V.  Over the years (due to a subsequent sequel and television show) this has become knows as V: The Original Miniseries.  I remember watching this when it originally aired over a couple of nights in 1983.  I was absolutely enthralled so when it came out on DVD a few years ago I just had to pick it up. PLOT: Written and directed by Kenneth Johnson, V tells the story … Continue reading

This Just In – Verizon Makes Bad Decisions

Verizon Logo

So recently got a new Blackberry Curve from Verizon Wireless.  I’ve been with Verizon for years now and I’m very happy with the service.  I have very few dead spots and I’ve never had a problem with their billing.  Their customer service, on the other hand, leave a little bit to be desired. Bad Decision #1 My wife and I are both on Verizon plans.  Because we use vastly different amount of minutes per month … Continue reading

The Oscar Ignored ‘Gran Torino’

Gran Torino (2008)

The fact that this movie didn’t even get nominated for ANY Oscars just goes to show how messed up the Academy is.  From the very beginning this picture grabs you and doesn’t let go.  The dialogue here is absolutely incredible and makes what could be a slow movie absolutely incredible. Clint Eastwood plays Walt Kowalksi, a Korean War vet who has recently lost his wife.  He’s an old school grumpy old man who quite frankly … Continue reading

Things I Learned This Weekend

Frozen Lobster Tails

I’m sure everyone out there on the Interweb loves to read about my crap. I had a couple of interesting/funny things happen this past weekend… enjoy! A smoothie, when spilled by a two and a half year old, will splatter all over the floor, table, walls & windows.  When said smoothie is mopped up it will leave a stick residue on the floor until you clean it thoroughly.  You cannot simply wipe it up but … Continue reading

‘Best Pictures’ That Just Aren’t – The 1990’s

The Oscar Statue

The most prestigious award that any movie can receive is the “Academy Award For Best Motion Picture” — The Oscar.  Once a movie has this distinction it goes down in history as the “best” movie of that year.  The red carpet at the Oscars is a huge event every year where all the stars turn out.  The Academy goes through some sort of review process and determines which picture is truly “the best”.  Ol Chewie’s … Continue reading

Gaming System To Big Screen – “Hitman”

Hitman (2007)

When this movie (directed by Xavier Gens) was announced I was so pumped.  For those of you that don’t know, Hitman is based on a video game franchise.  If you’re a fan of the game series then you’ll probably like the film (though many things have changed from the games to the movie).  That said, you certainly don’t need to have experience with the game to watch the movie. The main character is Agent 47 … Continue reading

Drive Through People – Please… Wipe Off My Drink

The Drive Through

I’m a pretty level-headed guy.  I tend to live my life with an “is what it is” or “roll with the punches” approach.  There are not too many things that really piss me off.  This happens to be one of them. You drive through your favorite drive through and get your favorite tasty beverage.  Invariably they hand you your drink and straw and there’s pop all over the outside of the cup!  What… the… fuck!  … Continue reading

‘Sex And The City’ – A Movie That Probably Shouldn’t Have Been Made

Sex and the City (2008)

10 Years after the show with the same name took HBO by storm, Sex And The City just had to be made… I guess.  I’ll start off by saying that I was a big fan of the show.  The wife and I had finally found something that we could both agree on.  The writing was top notch, the acting was great and it was just edgy enough to keep people talking from week to week … Continue reading
